Pinterest in the Classroom

I absolutely love Pinterest and I have already created boards for my future teaching endeavors so this assignment was nothing new to me. As an educator, I believe I will use Pinterest for student activities, classroom ideas, tips and hints for teaching, and a whole lot more. The strengths of Pinterest are the easy to use nature of the network, the easy organization, and finding things are very easy. I honestly can't pinpoint any challenges of Pinterest because I feel that everything is laid out and created very nicely. Pinterest is one of my favorite past times and one of the first places I go for help or ideas. I would definitely recommend Pinterest to Teachers and Educators.

Khan/Koller Review

After looking into Khan Academy, I would absolutely use this and recommend it to other students to use. The way the Salman has everything set up is very user-friendly. The videos are easy to follow and topics are explained thoroughly and clearly. I definitely agree with Khan when he talks about how we will rely more on "credentialing" through online courses. Technology is the future of education and I believe that in the future,  you will see this more and more. I agree with the concept that online education will make it more accessible for students because students will not have the same time and money constrains as before.

As I read through the courses offered from Coursera, the course that caught my eye was Social Entrepreneurship. When looking into where Coursera transfers, I was able to determine that Columbus State does not accept Coursera credits. The courses that are offered through Coursera, as a whole, look more interesting than some of the classes offered at Columbus State that I have taken. I think the fact that they are online and designed for that, make them more interesting to me because I learn better visually and Coursera appears to be more visual than listening. As the wave of online free courses begin to become standard practice, there will be less students attending universities and the purpose for those universities will change. Khan touches on this during his interview, but I do believe that universities will go back to the way they used to be where people attend because they love learning and love education, not to get a job.
